Mexican Magic

So here we are. Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca Mexico.

After 36 hours off the back off a whirlwind tequila infused, b-boy blasted Costa Rican trip, back for a Nicaraguan minute with our beloved Family @ The Naked Tiger Hostel then whisked off to Mexico.

All girl A-Team we hit up our new home Poko Lolo right across the road from Zicatela beach.

A stunning picture perfect photo opportunity at every turn, abundant with coconut trees, chaise loungy day beds and fairy lights, friendly locals, THE best fish tacos ever and a party scene that's kept us well and truly misbehaved.

So much natural beauty and we haven't even left our main strip! I've Lusted this heartfelt town the moment of arrival. The Naked Tiger brought together a family of like minded soul sisters. We've lived, laughed, played, partied like maniacs on the run, destroyed and rebuilt our reputations, the classic Sex in Mex tour.

Amongst this natural beauty is one of my now closest friends Anna Åhslund from Stockholm Sweden. Having never modeled before in her life, I asked her to be my Mexi muse. She morphes into another realm of beauty and light. Breathtaking.

We shot this traversing across the strip utilising the romantic scenery to showcase some new pieces sourced here in Mexico. Cute little tye dye fringed minis, perfect as a little bikini throw over now available through WANDERLUST !!

LIFE is beautiful, magical, dramatic, wonderful, whimsical, exhilarating, offensive, inspiring, challenging, ominous, motivating, intoxicating, tyrannical, overwhelming, exhilarating all at once and all rolled into one.

We're tiny ants in this great big world, scattering aimlessly or with direction getting by each day in our own way. We co-exist with others or live a castaway life of solitaire. What we have is choice to create who we are, choice of what we say, how we act and react, how we play this game of life. What works for you may not work for me, and that's OK.
Be who you want to be and let others free to choose their path. We intersect into each others lives for a reason, no meeting great or small happens by fault. It can be a passing look of poverty in the eyes of a child begging, a captivating glance of a stranger passing by, a conversation, relationship, incident that touches you or an accident that collides worlds.

Every exchange requited or not is an exchange of energy. We give and we receive. Even if the lesson is not clear at the time, like vintage it may take years to appreciate it's true character. If we believe everything in life happens for a reason, the highs and lows won't feel so dramatic. If we believe the universe always provides what we need at the time we would never feel poor or unjust.

I currently live in a small town of drugs, booze, binges and hook ups. It's known as one of the biggest party towns in Central America, big statement. There's so much 'noise' that if you tuned in all the time you'd end up raving mad or in rehab. I'll have my fun when I want it and i'll take as much as i want, but my health is wealth and balance comes from being with myself every day. I'll jump in when I want and step out when I need.
Call it selfish, unsocial, boring, but the best part is not listening to other people.
I live on my own terms. Yoga, meditation and lifestyle are key to my happiness. India showed me and now I'm living it.

I don't impede on how others want to live their lives, it's your cup of tea just not my flavor.

Travel and living in other countries teaches valuable life lessons, exposes you to other cultures and ways of life that open you up and make you more whole. Small minded people stem from lack of education or worldly experience, sophistication and appreciation. It's not their fault, some people are born into this life dealt a rough hand, but these people are also in life to teach others to be more compassionate, more giving and more appreciative of what we have. I've been fortunate in my travels to experience both sides of the coin to an extent.
To live like the rich and the poor in one lifetime is the greatest humbling experience one can have.

My number One Soul Sister, Celebrity/ Actress/ Supermodel Miss Lisa Haydon.
We met on Bondi Beach in 2007 while she was waitressing at one of the hippest restaurants on the beach. Later that evening she read my tarot cards by candle light. I was in awe. 'Who IS this Goddess?!'
It was love at first sight! She IS the reason I'm living my dream today.
A model/waitress/hippy/uber beach babe this girl was always gonna make it fly.
I was producing photo shoots at the time, my career spanning across 10 years working on every photographic production from boutique design agency turned international factory Moon Design to Saatchi & Saatchi to ACP the largest publishing house in Australia.

I'd worked for every brand, magazine title, photographer, creative director I could have possibly dreamed of. Part of my role as producer was to set castings for all kinds of shoots and briefs, but I could never cast Lisa in anything other than swimwear fittings for her flawless body. As beautifully exotic and breathtaking as she is, sadly the industry in Australia did not embrace mixed cultures in the campaigns and editorials I worked across. Now onto her 3rd film and voted one of the 50 most beautiful people in India by PEOPLE MAGAZINE, Lisa has well and truly made her mark.
Born to Indian father and Australian mother, returning to India turned out to be the turning point for her International career. She's shot covers for every magazine and prestige brand, from Swiss Air to Kingfisher Calendar, akin to the Pirelli Calendar. After 3 years of leaving Australia I decided to meet her in India for Christmas, little did I know that would be the beginning of the rest of my life.
As I packed my Sampsonite I called to ask what I should pack. "Honey, just bring your raving boots, bikini and COME.'
I arrived in Mumbai with a stand-out hand written sign blazing stars and glitter and a 'WELCOME TO INDIA YAZZY!!' So Lisa. I knew I was home.
Personal driver Ravi collected me and drove in air conned luxury through the heroin junkyard slums, my mouth dropped as I watched the grime drip from walls and kids and dogs eat dirt off the streets. We finally came into Lisa's home she shares with boyfriend Karan, born of Indian royalty. Their social network includes Madonna, Jade Jagger and Gregory David Roberts, the contrasts of India I well and truly have lived.
Two blocks from Cafe Leopold made famous by Shantaram and a block form the Taj Palace in Colabra, one of the most affluent suburbs in Mumbai. She came running down the staircase wearing a white maxi dress, looking the ever pure Goddess I always remembered.

We spent Christmas together as one big Bolly family, and flew to Goa together for NYE where Karan headlines at Sunburn Festival, a 3 day electronic dance music festival. Enter raving boots.
DJ friends from across the globe from Israel to Ibiza come stay in their lakeside mansion, cooks tending to our every culinary wish. Coconuts, cappuccinos, and the ever famous Goan fish curry, enough to make you never want to leave this dreamy paradise.

From the moment I landed in India my life changed, but even more dramatically when I was involved in a motorbike accident 2 weeks after much raving and blasting. 10 hours, electric blue foot cast and pain in the armpit crutches later I was released from the dingiest hospital (aka jail) I have ever seen.
This incident basically shift gear into the next chapter.

Born to Australian (Malika) and British (Nina) mothers and Indian fathers. Their obsession with electronic music and partying lead them to find their passion producing music and djing. Their on stage presence is electrifuckingfying! Wearing black capes onto stage then tearing it up with killer beats this too hot to touch duo gather influences from Tiesto, David Guetta, Eric Morrillo, Ace Ventura and Liquid Soul to name a few.
I was with Malibu while she was putting her set together at her boyfriends palace resort in Goa, he'd just been in a motorbike accident and broken his leg in various places. Bed ridden and unable to walk for several months he showed me his x-rays to which I consoled with deep sympathy, little did I know I'd be the one bearing X-rays within a few hours!
Most popular mode of transport aside of rickshaws includes blazing through dusky roads on Royal Enfields, not uncommon to hear of motorcycle accidents.
It was this night at one of their gigs in Candolim that the evening took a turn of events. I was on a bike with Nina's brother, whom came out worse than I. We had to wrap my pashmina around his foot to stop the blood, I thought I just sprained my ankle so hopped onto the back of another bike back to the club to tell the girls. I limped onto stage with bloody knee, trance blasting, batting off a swarm of Indian men and yelling over the speakers to inform the girls of our misfortune. 3 hours later they arrive in hospital with full set gear, hysterical and freaking out like a bunch of girls.
A comedic moment if ever there was one, and I wasn't even on the hard drugs yet.

Akira Garton, fashionista/ stylist/ creative love bubble/ fallen angel. We met last year in Bali.
I was on a vacation from my life with Liesel (smouldering brunette above) whom I'd also just met within the last month but as we discovered over brunch one sunny Sunday I'd scouted her younger sister on Bondi Beach, spotting a young Megan Gale. A few conversations and major soul connection later, I booked my ticket to Bail a week before leaving. Lili a seasoned Indo traveller met me in Legion arms flailing in the air screaming my name from the back of her motorbike chaffeured ride. I hopped on and we whizzed through the streets of Seminyak to arrive at Miss Akira Garton's villa. I walked in to be greeted by a hot little blonde pocket bombshell, in an open villa space that could have teleported me to Morocco.

Effortlessly chic with hair thrown up in loose bun and way too shorty shorts, she was living the dream in paradise crafting trinkets, lovebead bracelets and designing clothing, shipping through e-bay and online store worldwide. I was mesmerised. How is it possible to live this life? Beauty, talent and tranquility casually thrown together. So chic.
We later connected in Sydney, as she left Bali after a year of living her dream in Paradise.
Her next inspiration was India. Hey, my best friend wants me to visit her in India, why don't we travel together? So for the next 3 months she kept me inspired and on course, dreaming and drifting through 9-5 life, awaiting my turn for that taste of paradise.
I call her my Angel because she's the one who cared for me while I was in crutches. Serving me papaya pineapple and ginger tea, she saved my sanity and kept me inspired.
To this day she's kept me true to my dreams and my on ground Sydney contact for WANDERLUST, birthed organically in the desert of Rajashtan.

Living in the Penthouse overlooking the beach we lived a precious life together! This girl knows how to work her hot little bod, a fool for love she finally found it for keeps and relocated her life to be with her One true love in London.

Woman of the world, fiercely talented, exotic, dashingly courageous and fun, ZenJu is the modern day Guru.
She left her successful independent business ADDNOISE as photo retoucher in Sydney 2 years ago to live la vita in Rome. Trading long hours, endless nights, and a high end Eastern suburbs lifestyle working for some of Australia's top Fashion and advertising Photographers, Ju packed it all in for life in la piazza.
Gelato, fresh mozzarella and a new Napoli lover became the new Ju. After roaming through Rome and scoring retouching campaigns in Germany, Italy and Spain, we first reunited in Barcelona 2009. Living in a dark, woody pensione together we shared space and laughs in true Vicki Cristina Barcelona style. Attempting go sees as Producer/Retoucher collaboration scored us no job offers but countless dinner outings and endless random adventures.
Fast forward 2 years later and she'd again relocated to London where life took a turn. In true Hollywood style she decided to embark on her Eat.Pray.Love journey.
Here we are now, at the Pray. Reunited in Dharamsala, India, she came to meet me 2 weeks before I had to flee the country for visa's sake. I introduced her to India which turned into Bali then Thailand for diving (slight diversion from storyline) now based back in Bronte, Sydney. Like a true cat she always lands on her feet, residing in a beautiful beachside home and picking up work with some of the finest, yet again.

YUKI HONJO ARCHER

Half Japanese half English, snow white Yuki-chan became my half Japanese sister the moment we met in the East Village, New York. What transpired from a meeting over sushi one evening became a 3 month adventure, living together in a pimped out SoHo apartment.
Like little twins we frolicked and played up a storm in the city, while I worked at Drive In Studios in Chelsea and she collaborated on a series of creative pursuits involving fashion design. I left after my 3 month stint and we reunited 2007 to relive the dream. A short 2 week speed date with NYC along with Judith, we lived it up VIP style, her then boyfriend part owner of The Box , La Esquina & 212, circuit for our stay. Since then Yuki moved to Montreal to pursue her fashion design career as costume designer for Cirque Du Soleil. On the rise her career expanded and after 3 years of working her dream job she's just relocated back to New York to pursue an other world of creative endeavors.

MEGAN MUTRIE

Canadian beauty and all round awesome chick, Megan is the web that holds together The Naked Tiger Hostel in San Juan del Sur. She came to San Juan off the back of a different journey and found herself positioned as family member/ go to girl/ shuttle driver/ surf photographer/ in house hottie. She's the blonde bombshell pulling the guys into line.
The beauty and brains behind the sometimes tired brains. Owners Ryan Spiegel and Jeffro Anderlite have a built an empire, within a few months this place is literally spoken of all across Central America. The most (in)famous hostel located just outside of San Juan del Sur with shuttle access from town every 2 hours, Naked is one place you must stay, hang poolside, get amongst the daily beach runs, relax or just get freakin crazy. Boasting one of the most epic sunsets San Juan has to offer daily, it's your escape from San juan until you need another escape!
All rounder Megan will always be there to greet you with a smile, no matter how large the turning of events take place. A true warrior, beauty and possibly the coolest girl in town.

ALEXANDERA COLLARES ENOS

Radiant Brazilian beauty, Alexander left Sao Paolo several years ago pursuing her modelling career in the South East Asia region where she met husband Jeff, an ex model/MTV presenter.
A woman of greatest strength, beauty, compassion and endless words of wisdom, Alex instantly became another worldly sister of mine. She's been through some of life's tougher times and come through shining. She's one of those women who drawn you in, engaging with words and beauty. Always wearing a huge smile and laughing at any given opportunity, this lady love knows how to live life in cruise control.
Having lived in Gigante for a couple of years is not unlike living in the jungle. True hard Nica life laws of the land, no security, no policia, just pure machete territory. Husband Jeff is crazier than the locals, excellent protection.

A few too many tequila shots and crazytalk later we could have all been road trippin' Nicaragua to Brazil. Stories just flow from this couple, who have just managed to leave Nicaragua for a life back in Brazil. Not without it's share of border robbing and violation, with a few odd hours spent in jail. It just wouldn't be interesting without it.
Now safely back in the loving, buzzing arms and high rises of Sao Paolo, Alex is my Aphrodite Goddess of inspiration showing me the colours and rhythm of life in Brazil.

LAURA REGIMBAL

Hailing from Seattle this American beauty left her US life for Costa Rica. Upon a visa border run she met Leandro, her Nicaraguan worldly travelled other. Deciding to throw in the restaurant job for Amor she left Costa permanently to reside in San Juan at Leandro's family run beachfront Hotel Ana Mar. Running an empire requires dedication and direction, and little miss Queen fluent in Spanish with excellent co-worker and dog wrangling skills is perfectly suited to lady of the house.
Without any previous modeling experience I asked if she'd shoot for my brand WANDERLUST. Without hesitation she morphed into a mini Giselle Bündchen, tuning right into character gaining much respect from the camera. I'm pretty sure she's been doing this for years, just keeping it low profile. We've since shot for 2 separate ranges, the next soon to come!

ROSALYN KAYO BALL, ANTHEA ROSE & OKAASAN

Three generations of women in my life, mother, sister and niece.
My mother left her home, family and culture in Japan to pursue a Western life. Arriving in Australia at 28, she was outcast going against the grain of the traditional Japanese way. While studying English in Sydney she met my Austrian father. They couldn't speak the same language, came from completely different cultural backgrounds, and to this day still married.
Beautiful, strong, intelligent and heart of gold sister who just had her first born last year.
Little Japanese/Austrian/Australian/New Zealand sweet beloved Anthea Rosebud, I only had the joy of meeting once before my journey to India. She's wise beyond her years and possibly the cutest baby on earth.
The only thing I miss about Australia is the chance to watch her grow up and overwhelm her with overbearing Aunty Shima affection!

There's something in all my soul sisters and family I admire, and the reason they're entrenched in my life and heart forever.

We're worlds away but always together in heart!

1.5 hours uphill, 18,000m above sea level and a few breaths lighter we reached the peak of the
Indian Nose.

Breathtaking would be a modest way to describe it.

Amongst the clouds where eagles soar and a playground of sparrow size butterflies frolick together, floating away on one of the clouds almost becomes real.

A merging of creative minds infused by local Mayan culture and mountain magic induces a feeling of richness in this picture perfect village. Here we are freestyling french rap over electro improvised beats overlooking magestic mountains and lake, elevating sunset grooves to a whole other level.

5 Quetzals will get you fresh crispy taco with ensalada, guacamole and queso, complete with a steaming glass of hot chocolate rice milk. Not a bad deal for 70cents

Personal space is just not an issue, the more the merrier. Complete with natural a/c

Partying with bueno amigos @ Zoola Hotel and Restaurant the number one spot in San Pedro for good vibes, music, family style staff and killer Israeli food. Run by A-star Israeli brother and sister team with a pool overlooking the lake, you can chillout in the Indian inspired outdoor lounge cafe or kick back to cocktails poolside overlooking Lake Atitlan.

Just don't expect your stay to be short.

So here we are, over looking the sleepy bay of San Juan del Sur atop a mountain trying to wrangle savage winds & chiffon, yes that's Costa Rica in the background.

We decide to shift location for weather contingency and of course the car runs out of gas.

If all went smoothly there'd be nothing to write home about. Next stop TEXACO.

On the up side Laura got her paintbrushes. At least someone was pleased.

You can always count on shadow puppets to pass the time...

Not a bad wrap when it involves Mexican beer/lime/salt mix, fresh catch mackerel & cracked coconut poolside into sunset. Happy ending.

San Juan del Sur is home to the 2nd tallest Jesus statue in the world, behind Christ The Redeemer in Rio.

Aside from being a world landmark, this locale boasts some of the town's finest panoramic views.

Of course, WANDERLUST is all about the places we lust in life, no shortage of breathtaking moments here!

the searchers

Some people do not have to search, they find their niche early in life and rest there, seemingly contented and resigned. They do not seem to ask much of life, sometimes they do not seem to take it seriously.

At times I envy them, but usually i do not understand them. Seldom do they understand me.
I am one of the searchers. There are, I believe, millions of us. We are not unhappy, but neither are we complete. We continue to explore life, hoping to uncover it's ultimate secret.

We continue to explore ourselves, hoping to understand. We like to walk along the beach, we are drawn by the ocean, taken by it's power, it's unceasing motion, it's mystery and unspeakable beauty. We like forests and mountains, deserts and hidden rivers, and the lonely cities as well. Our sadness is as much a part of our lives as is our laughter. To share our sadness with one we love is perhaps as great a joy as we can know - unless it be to share our laughter.

We searchers are ambitious for only life itself, for everything beautiful it can provide.

Most of all we want to love and be loved.

We want to live in a relationship that will not impede our wanderings, nor prevent our search, nor lock us in orison walls; that will take us for what little we have to give. We do not want to prove ourselves to another or to compete for love.

We are wanderers, dreamers and lovers who dare ask of life everything good and beautiful.

It's been forever and a day since my last post!!! BUT I have valid reason.

Finding time between photo shooting, rebranding, redesigning WANDERLUST, rushing on Nica time from fabric stores to tailors, sourcing trips via deconstructed local bus, speaking malo (bad) Spanglish (NO idea how I manage although I've become an excellent mime artist), broken laptop, daily power cuts, no water, moving house, being mugged by machete, trying to maintain inner peace, turning 23 again, fiestas, daily meltdowns and meditation through bumps and grinds of life in a 2nd world country, finally a moment to put pen to post!

There are moments I just want to jump on the next air conditioned jet plane out of here...
Paradise has a price to pay.

On the flipside, cheap cost of living, a full belly for $3, some of the most insane treats totally blog worthy (i'm dedicating a section to my current addiction cacao), beautiful beaches, breathtaking sunsets, the most divine children I've ever seen in my life, people the world over and local Nicas who've become my family, there's no doubt my life here is quite epic.
I'm no longer in the rat race society, my neighbours are dogs and chickens.

The difference is the contrast of this place feels tougher than the dripping slums vs royal riches in India.

They didn't call it Survivor Nicaragua for nothing.

The common 'Shanti' is called 'Happy hour' in this transient party town. It's a constant state of finding and maintaining your own inner peace, which surely is the meaning of life. I've come to realise my Nica life is a test of the strength & inner peace I found and felt everyday in India. I was on crutches from my motorbike accident for 6 weeks, battled frequent parasites, bed bugs, heartbreaks, cow dump, drop toilets, fatal rickshaw rides but still existed stupidly happy.

And so it goes. I've learnt to live off the simple pleasures in life.
You CAN eat rice and beans everyday and be happy! I love the local vibe fused with foreigners here, I love pollo & plantains as much as red wine & Italian wood fired pizza, my sweet Nica amigos who grew up in compact cement houses with chickens to my inspired friends of the world.

A couple of guys hand pump water for me yesterday when it ran out.
As the locals say TIN... This is Nicaragua!

Carlos a local Nicaraguan has been teaching music at the school the past few years. He emparts his gift onto the children, who orchestrated a full scale musical for the final presentation night.... beating jungle drums, pied piper fluting and sweet little Spanish voices.

Five weeks, 5 teachers, 4 lead volunteers and 10 assistant volunteers, The Yin Yang Creative Arts Program educated students of the BPP in photography, poetry, contemporary dance, theatre, puppetry, zinemaking and found object installation. Volunteers from across the globe contributed in a month long workshop concluding in a final presentation evening at the school.

I volunteered with photography, teaching and wrangling 2 ninos for the night photography cirriculum. Each night we had a different theme to interpret, with the grand finale a showcase of each child's favourite 5 and top photograph overall.

Now I know what it feels like to be a proud parent.

After 5 weeks of intensive art education the students put on an impressive show stopping presentation in front of over 250 family and community members. The workshop theme was Yin & Yang. Each class presented their interpretation of balance in life's opposing forces.

The final photography showcase weaved together with spanish guitar literally silenced the audience. There's something so breathtakingly moving and raw about viewing the world through children's eyes.

These kids from the Barrios have talent.

Some now even consider photography as something they want to be when they grow up.

I'm overjoyed to have been a part of getting young creative juices flowing and showing these kids they can achieve whatever they want, they just have to give it a go.

Hitching a ride to the next beach is the way to get to the next destination, unless you have a car which few do. If the kids can do it, anyone can.

Love is all you Need.

Visiting mi amiga Jaimie's casa in la barrio San Juan Del Sur today finally felt like I live in Nicaragua.

Welcomed by a team of high wired niños scrambling for their spot on our hips, hijacking my camera and generally harassing us for cuddles, these carinos enduced love at first sight.

Combined relatives function together as one great familia under the same roof with no running water or major power source, yet their most basic needs are met.

Meals are cooked daily, a large pot of gallo pinto resides on a stone bench to feast on, with enough leftovers for the perros and pollos running freely throughout the barrio.

The kids are happy, laughing, playful love bubbles of energy.

Reminds me how simple life can and should be.

Sometimes all you need is rice, some beans and a whole Lotta Love.

Bright coloured colonial buildings and technicoloured architecture light up this endearing town.

A little stroke out into Laguna de Apoyo Nature Reserve waters will land you on a piece of prime real estate. Located between the departments of Masaya and Granada, Lake Apoyo was declared a nature reserve in 1991 and comprises of one of 78 protected areas of Nicaragua.

Cocooned by mountains atop a glass lake, the stillness is breathtaking and mesmerizing.

Basking in the aura of this grand lake meditating in it's silence makes it as one of my great mother nature moments.

Surfin' the Dream

My first ever attempt at standing on a board in Hermosa beach! I've lived on Bondi Beach my whole life but decided no better place than Nicaragua to learn to surf! It's easy to understand addiction of riding the waves and gliding across tranquil waters and feel the sense of peace that comes with being at one with the ocean.

First attempt at surf and making a cameo appearance in the local Nicaragua Surf Report make for a productive week!

Back on solid ground. Surf, yoga, surf, yoga.

Nica-hiking is the optimum way to navigate San Juan.

It pays to have a wagon in return for these smiles!

For a small town San Juan really knows how to party.

Following the 2 day surf comp was the SanJuanSurf & Corona Party at Arribas Bar.
30 degrees celcius, 80% humidity, dancing on la playa on tropical heat to a blasting raggae beat, no refuge only rum. Sweating bodies grinding off the days surf, true Nica style!

Already lined up was a photoshoot for the store opening of 'Turquesa Boutique' in San Juan Del Sur, a sleeply surf village south of Managua. Conveniently located in the main town centre and the first of it's kind in San Juan, this boutique will stock clothing, swimwear, hats and accessories from local designers and artisans.

Four continents, 26 hours up in air, 2 days and 6 hours transit and 4 time zones later I arrived at my final destination, Nicaragua, in Central America between Honduras and Costa Rica.

The drive from the airport was a long baron stretch of road from Managua airport to an eco lodge with nothing but candles and torches to pave the way.

Men on horseback, locals sitting by the side streets using the only available light from passing cars, dingy huts with low lighting and loud reggae resembling discotechs, spanish lessons with my driver and sweltering tropical humidity welcomed me to this new land.

I heart Venice Beach!

Land of low riders

I love creeping through Venice Beach boulevard, a stretch of markets, trinkets, coconut charm bracelets, love beads, crop tops, muscle men, low riders, roller bladers, hippies, rustas, readers, healers, hot pants. To name a few.

Nothing quite like the merging of freaks and chics of Venice Beach. I had my aura read, married a mexican, (almost) had kisses stolen and transformed into Cali chic dripping in trinkets, leather and slashed tees all in a few hours.

Met a super talented artisian from Mexico, Ramiro Perez. A bowerbird by nature he creates jewellery from metal, rings, keys, wood, leather and gemstones, turning something ordinary into the EXTRAORDINARY. 1. Namaste!

2. Everything in india is possible or NOT possible.

3. Same same but different. General saying used for everything.

3. Never getting an order right, mainly because Indians avoid writing down orders. The real joy begins when they start to run through your order, obviously getting it wrong asking you to recite the entire menu again. JUST WRITE IT DOWN.

4. Better yet when they leave a pencil and paper for YOU to write it down.

5. Ordering a meal or drink and having a completely different experience depending what mood the chefs in.

6. Ordering a meal to be told an hour later there is no pasta.

7. Why like this? An expression used for any question or query, commonly overused eg. customer becoming frustrated at lack of efficiency to which is responded 'why like this?'

8. The sweet, sweet chai.

9. Never having change for 100 rupees. Not possible.

10. The trains. Non a/c. Say no more.

11. Occupational health and safety risks EVERYWHERE. eg. minor electrocution plugging into power socket, cracked roads held together with boulders, surviving bus rides (note to self wear padding and helmut), rickshaw rides into oncoming traffic/cows/children/objects

12. Having a completely different experience in every place you visit.

13. The children, wise beyond their years.

14. Trains that go forward.... then back again.

15. Lack of personal space and public grooming.

Walking around the temple all the way to the top, ringing bells and breathing in the mountain air, the higher you climb the more peaceful it becomes. There's something so meditative about walking with the locals in their daily ritual. Shanti Shanti!

I was told to drink the Ganges water which I politely poured onto my face instead, after numerous lurking parasites I'm find joy in each day not spent hovering over a basin.

A bindified ceremony never loses it's touch.

Gita Bhavan is dedicated as a Museum for puranic and mythological awareness of the common public, enclosing many paintings and statues of characters from Hindu Mythology.

The paintings include the renowned Gita Sandesh depicting Lord Krishna and the great Pandava Warrior Arjuna in a Chariot in the Kurukshetra War field.

A little blessing to share this walk with the locals!

BUBBA LOVE

Today's wanderings included having a stray puppy follow us home on the way to the pool lighting up faces wherever she goes!

We named her bubba, a true bubba with no particular place to call home but finds home wherever she roams!

Like any typical princess, she was bathed, robed, laid to rest and delivered food and water to bed.

It pays to be this cute.

We visited local school Ramana's Garden where you can volunteer to teach kids or help out at the cafe on season and assist daily chores including washing clothes in the ganges. There are around 50 kids living on site with more from surrounding areas coming each day to learn.

This little guy Shenky became my instant best friend, wanting me to return for his 9th birthday in September so we could have a party together.

It's moments and smiles like these that will bring me back!

BUT FROM MOMENT OF MEETING I KNEW HE WAS THE ONE! AN EX LAWYER, UMESH FIRST BEGAN STUDYING YOGA IN '82. BY 1999 HE THREW IN HIS CLEAN CUT HAIRDO AND SUIT TO DEVOTE HIMSELF ENTIRELY TO HIS PRACTICE.

HE FIRST TAUGHT AT THE MAHARISHI MAHESH ASHRAM MADE FAMOUS BY THE BEATLES, WHERE THEY ATTENDED TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION AND STAYED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS WRITING MUSIC. HE THEN MOVED TO SRI SANT SEVA ASHRAM TO CONTINUE HIS TEACHINGS.

HE TRAVELS THROUGHOUT EUROPE LECTURING AND ATTENDING SEMINARS ON YOGA AND TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION.
